Tickets on sale from this Saturday and every Saturday in the clubhouse from Antoinette. Tickets also on sale on Monday nights from 8-9pm during the lotto. €30 deposit secures each ticket and balance must be paid in full on or before Saturday 5th November.

Starting 2nd October, O’Dwyers GAA will be offering something very special to the community of Balbriggan as part of the Healthy Club Project. Between 7 and 8pm for four weeks, the whole family (age 4 – adult) can come down and get some exercise.

The children will be catered for at the club will fundamental games/skill sessions. There will be three options for the adults aimed at all age groups and fitness levels. We will have a walking group, a running group and a fitness class to choose from. The running and walking groups will leave the premises and the fitness class will take place at the club. Weight/blood pressure and measurements will be offered as an option.

We will end our 4 weeks with a walk in Carlingford on Sunday 28th October . The only cost for this initiative will be the bus to Carlingford so what are you waiting for!!!

Centenary reunion takes place in the clubhouse on Saturday 7th July. This is a great opportunity for members past and present to come together to share stories and memories about O’Dwyers

A match involving club teams past and present will open proceedings at 5 o’clock. Bring your boots!

All past and present adult members are welcome to enjoy an evening of chat, nostalgia, food, music and fun.

There will also be an extensive memorabilia exhibition and a video stream of the past 100 years.

This is a ticket only event. Tickets are priced at €10 and are available from PJ Keary on 0879329099.

Can everybody please spread the word about this event. It is hoped that it has reached everyone who played or helped out with a team or have been involved in the club at present or in the past. If there’s anyone at all you can think of please let them know.

Our team is made up of 9 and 10-year-old girls from seven different schools across Balbriggan. We currently have 35 girls registered and actively taking part on a week to week basis. The team train twice a week, Monday and Wednesday at 7pm in O’Dwyers and play football and Camogie Go Games matches every Saturday at 2pm with one-week Football and one-week Camogie.  The games are played on a home and away basis which gives the girls a chance travel across Dublin visiting different clubs and spending time with their friends while having fun and learning new skills.

For the first time this year, the girls have started camogie to complement their football skills and to build upon the very successful “Gaelic for girls” programme we had the year before. The girls have learnt new skills and are really enjoying their time a hurl and helmet. We have even introduced the “circle of Doom” at the end of our camogie session where we get the parents and children to take part in a fun game. Our team is heavily family oriented with everyone playing a part; washing the jerseys, taking the subs, doing the toilet runs, helping out at the sessions and making videos at home with the girls to demonstrate the skills they have learned at the skill sessions each week.

This year, the girls have been lucky enough to be selected for national Camogie programme called “hurl with me” this seen the girls and parents take part in a 4-week training programme to teach both parents and the girls the basic skills of camogie. This programme ended in a national blitz in Abbottstown, where the girls played teams from Galway, Tipp, and the North of Ireland. Another great day for bonding amongst the players and parents and for the girls to demonstrate their skills learnt over the year in a fabulous national facility. There’s even talk of a “Camogie for Mams team” been established.

As part of our many activities outside of playing Football and Camogie; During the year as a team we travelled to Croke Park to see Monaghan beat Dublin in the National League Final. This brought a smile to our head coach Mick. In August, some of the team also travelled to DCU for meet and greet session with the Dublin Senior Camogie team ahead of there All Ireland Quarter Final and to Parnell park for another meet and greet with the Dublin Senior Men’s Football team.

In additional, as part of our coaching and games plan the girls were lucky enough to receive a 2-hour skills session with Paudie Butler, a dual Tipp player in the 70s and national master coach, along with a visit and 2 hours’ workshop from Colm Nally on creating fun activities for training sessions.

On the social side of things, our midyear trip to Awesome Walls was Awesome, this pushed the girl’s to new heights, literally.  Still to come this year; We have been invited in September to Killeavy, Co. Armagh to play in a U10 Girls Football tournament. Also, on September 9th the team will be traveling as a team to Croke park to watch the Camogie All Ireland final and on Saturday 15th Sept we will be traveling to Galway to play Oranmore Maree in our annual “trip to country”
