Club Notes 21st June 2020

Return to Play Update from our Chairman Liam Howley

Dear Members

I would like to take the opportunity to wish all our members good health and wellbeing during these exceptional times. As a club, our members have shown real leadership within our community, through supporting the Fingal Community Response and a number of fundraising activities during this challenging period. This has been a huge positive to me personally to see how the club has rallied to support those less fortunate than ourselves.

I would also like to in particular congratulate all the mentors for their tireless work in keeping their teams active and engaged with the club through online sessions, team challenges over the last number of months. In addition, I would also like to thank all the members of committees who have been very active working in the background virtually supporting the club on a day to day business.

As we commence on our return to play process in alignment with the GAA and Dublin Co Board’s guidance and protocols. There will be a number of changes to how we as a club work, there will be a number of new policies which we will need to adhere to and indeed there will be a number of limitations that will remain in place during the pathway to a full return.

The club officers and committees are working very closely to ensure that we have a safe environment for all members and players to return to, and player and member safety is our primary focus.  A more detailed Return to Play plan will be shared shortly.

The impact of C-19 has like many clubs and businesses around the country had an impact on our club and now it is more important for every member to support our club as we progress through this period and look forward to our new future in the new development.

Can I ask each and every member, player, and parent to consider what else you can do to support our club, as we understand the full impact of the C-19 period on the day to day finances of the club? This can be as small as supporting our weekly club lotto €2 a week. The club will need additional support if we are to provide a high level of support to our players and teams over the upcoming season.

So finally I look forward to welcoming all our members and players back to training on the 29th of June and join us in showing your club colours in the town on Sat 27th to celebrate by wearing your club top, tracksuit, hat & even scarf on Sat, to show the community and fellow members that we are on our way back!

I would ask you all for your patience and support over this period as we get back to our new normal

Yours in Sport

Liam Howley

Covid-19 Return to play Educational Webinars

There will be a number of educational webinars available in the next few weeks from the GAA explicitly detailing how to safely return to play. We would ask that ALL persons (managers, committee members, parents, etc) view these videos and familiarise themselves with the new guidelines and procedures that we will be adhering to.

Webinar outlining Return to Play Guidelines can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shgo-TWDiHo

The compulsory e-learning module that should be completed by everyone can be viewed here: https://courses.gaa.ie/Covid19ClubEd/#/

There is a learning section of the GAA website with useful resources and information here: https://learning.gaa.ie/covid19

GAA Cúl Camp

After much deliberation and review of Covid 19 return to play guidelines, the club has very reluctantly taken the decision NOT to hold our annual Cúl Camp this year. The camps would have to cater to a much-reduced number and we are simply not willing to leave anyone out. We look forward to bigger and better camps in 2021 ???

Club Jersey Day

To celebrate the fact that O’Dwyers can reopen and generate some excitement among the community, we will be holding Club Jersey Day on Saturday 27th June.

We are asking everyone to wear O’Dwyers club gear and send us a selfie wherever you are! Photos can be sent through our social media channels and will be put up on Facebook/Instagram.
