Next Sunday the 17th November will be the day for the Annual Fran Leonard Memorial Day.
As is tradition, our Intermediate Footballers will take on O’Dwyers on the Senior Pitch at 1pm. Meanwhile, a Juvenile game between the two clubs will also be held on the adjacent Juvenile pitch. For any new members that don’t realise the significance of the day, 7 short years ago this month Fran was playing in the second last league game of our Intermediate Footballer’s Adult League Division 4 clash against O’Dwyers when, after 50 minutes of play, he suddenly collapsed and died of Sudden Adult Death. On Sunday week we shall be celebrating his life with another clash against O’Dwyers.
The games will be followed with refreshments and friendship and this year, a special guest star shall be there to share the day with us – this same guest was with us to celebrate in 2011 – I’m sure most will know who that might be – UP THE DUBS!!!!
Unfortunately, do to logistics, this year for the first time, the game will not be held after the Annual memorial mass for Fran and so for those looking to attend this it shall be held on the following Sunday, 24th November at 10.30 in Our Lady of Victories Church on Ballymun Road.
