O’Dwyers 2-08 Round Towers Lusk 0-09

The Juniors started their 2013 league campaign with a hard fought win over a determined Towers side on Sunday afternoon.

The home side struck first with an early point but when Rory Fatherty picked up the ball on the oppositions 21 yard line beat his man and finished to the net, O’Dwyers never looked back.
Emmett Mc Carroll added a couple of points before Dean Thompson raised another green flag which left O’Dwyers six points up at the break.

The second half was a much tighter affair with Lusk looking to gain a foot hold in the game with a couple of early scores, but O’Dwyers responded brilliantly with Rory Fatherty and Jamie Andrews giving a fielding Master class in the middle of the park. Danny Kelly and Mick Green were solid in full back line and Peter Donoughe continued his recent good form between the posts with two excellent saves at vital stages in the game.

O’Dwyers can take a lot of positives from the game none more so than the performance of the minors lads all who showed great work rate and an abundance of ability, but the tally of 10 wides will have to be tightened before the visit of Beann Eadair this Sunday in the cup.
