Minor Football returned to Bremore Park today after a long and unwelcome exile from the club, this Minor Team is under the guidance of Damien Rodgers and assisted by Micheal Blount ,Alan Howley & Ronan o Reilly, the team now has a wonderful platform to build on and progress into the Future
O’Dwyers 2-6 St Patricks Donabate 0-12
A extremely entertaining Game played in reasonable conditions on a slightly sticky pitch in Bremore park this afternoon ,saw the game opened up with a high tempo with Jamie Andrews striking first for the home team with a pointed free ,St Patrick’s then responded with the next four points unanswered before Brian Smith was on the end of a short free to flick the ball in to the net to level the game ,John Reynolds and Colm o Reilly gave a exhibition of point scoring with two wonderfully taken scores ,St Pats continued to chip away with scores,This game was nip and tuck ,Colm o Reilly then pointed a left footed free followed by a point from Aaron o Neill which left the game evenly balanced at half time with the hosts a point to the good .
The second half opened with a brace of scores for the visitors before Jamie Lyons latched on to a loose ball before finding the bottom corner with a powerful shot and rattling the net after that O’Dwyers lost a bit of focus and St Pats took control of the game edging a point ahead in the dying minutes ,but just as we thought the game had slipped away and too there credit O”Dwyers came again relentlessly attacking in hope of leveling the game ,all the persistence paid off as they were awarded a free in injury time which was dispatched with a cool head by Colm o Reilly to earn a draw-by most accounts a fair result .O’Dwyers stand out player on the day was Niall Mullen who was outstanding in the back line all day.
