U15 Ladies (Born 2005)

Templeogue Synge Street v O’Dwyers, Division 5

This weekend saw our first game of the season, away to TSS. We started brightly and managed to score first through a well taken point by Elsa Kearney. As the game developed the girls were up against a strong opponent and a strong wind. Our defence soaked up a lot of pressure and performed very well, particularly our new keeper Jessy O Aroqundale who pulled off a number of saves. At half time we found ourselves behind by 7 points but optimistic knowing the girls excel when behind. From the restart the tails were up and we pressed TSS. We fought our way back into the game with goals from Amelia Campbell & Ruth Devine Pitt. As time went on, the girls began to tire and as we only had 15, we were unable to make subs. This led to TSS getting a few scores and winning by 7. The effort put in by the girls was excellent and the game a good test. We train at 7:00 on Monday at the all-weather pitch. New players welcome, contact Fiona on 0864043751.

U16 Boys (Born 2004/2005)

White team vs Cuala Div 7

Making the long journey to Shanganagh Park to play Cuala we had 13 players.

With a strong wind favouring Cuala in the first half they clocked up a few scores.

Our defense was strong winning numerous turnovers but our transition to the forwards in the opposition half of the pitch was poor. Conditions did not help and the few sights we got on goal were put wide or capably handled by their keeper. We kept trying though and scored a solitary goal at the end of the half.

2nd half we kept trying but their keeper made some good saves. Our defense were overrun on a couple of occasions resulting in goals. A few innocuous fouls giving Cuala straightforward points too.

The scoreline did not reflect the match as the sides were much closer inability.

Even though the game was a lost cause with 10 minutes left the lads never stopped trying and kept playing for each other. We scored 1-1 in the final 5 minutes and could have had a couple more scores too

Green team vs St Catherine’s Div 3

Our green team travelled to St Catherine’s (Clonsilla ) we had a lot of players out this weekend due injuries and availability, we travelled with the bare min of 15 players.

We knew this St Catherine’s team from Feile & hurling so we knew it would be a good competitive game. The game started well for us, we kept it tight in the first 5mins,  we had a lot of dominance in the first half but we just could not convert the possession, through strong Catherine’s defence and some bad shot selection. We settled into the game and got a couple of scores going in at half time 0-7 to 0-4

The second half we played up a slight hill and wind in our face, Catherines started well and got a couple of scores with no response, but we settled into the game and traded points with Catherine’s, we kept pushing but we got caught in defence and conceded a very dubious penalty. Unfortunately the penalty killed off any chance of us getting a result. The game ended 1-16 to 0-11

Overall we were happy with elements of the game, playing in the higher league is providing the lads and management with new challenges, with more work on tactics and a bit of game luck we will get the right results

New players are very welcome, for further details on practice times and what you need to get started call, whatsapp or sms Robbie 086 8282753 or Dave 087 9702479

U18 Girls

A  young O’Dwyers Girls welcomed St. Oliver’s Plunketts to Bremore park this week. Playing up the hill against a very strong wind we played well in the first half and were happy enough with the girls performance.

Second half we didn’t use the wind to our advantage and as a result, lost the match by a fair margin.

New players are very welcome, for further details on practice times and what you need to get started call, whatsapp or sms Shirley on 087 6356760

Adult ladies

Our girls only went and won the @denhaaggaa international tournament in Holland ???

.The ladies beat Ballymore Eustace, Glasgow Gaels, Robert Emmets and drew with Douglas to top the group. Beat Portobello in semi final and then Naomh Finbarra from Cork in the final! Huge thanks for fantastic tournament and supreme hospitality ?

Special mention to Amy Gibbons who won the title of Player of the Tournament! Nicely done Amy!

Gaelic for Mothers and Others

We visited Starlights on Sunday 8th for a 4.15 pm kick off for our first round-robin match. We got off to a great first half, playing with the wind with plenty of great hand passing and teamwork. At the half time whistle we went off the pitch with a 4 point lead.

Winning the ball from the throw-in and scoring straight away gave us the drive to play up the hill against the wind. There was a few taste challenges in a very competitive second half. On the final whistle, O’Dwyers had won 1-10 to 4 points. All finished as friends with a photo for International Women’s Day and a light supper.
